We all make resolutions to start the new year – to lose weight, to get fit, to be more self-confident, to spend more time with the people we care about. What if there was a way to do all of those things at once?

So what is this miracle cure for all your New Year’s ambitions? Roller derby, naturally. What did you think we’d say?!

January 4, the Burn City Rollers will be having their first recruitment night of 2012. Anyone interested in working with our team is welcome to join us at the Skate Center from 7:30-9:30. We are currently seeking not only rollergirls but refs and volunteers for non-skating official positions!

Don’t know how to skate? That’s no excuse! We’ll teach you whatever you need to know. We have starter gear available for this practice, and we’ll work on basic skating skills as well as showing our guests what a real scrimmage looks like with our scrimmage-eligible players.

If you’ve been putting off joining our team, this is the best time of year to do it! New skaters that join in January will get the most out of our off-season endurance and strength training so that they can be ready to play as soon as possible. With our season starting in March, you don’t want to waste time – the sooner you get started training, the sooner you can join us on the track!
